L'infanzia di 3 personaggi leggendari in forma di docufiction teatrale

What would you like to be when you grow up?

BE LEGEND! is a serial project, a docu-fiction series exploring how historical or fictional characters who are now legends may have been like as children: Hamlet, Joan of Arc, Adolf Hitler.

In each episode we look at a different character. In each city, 3 different children will have 24 hours to embody these eminent personalities at the age of 10 – their gestures, their environment, their games.

In the character’s younger self we will look out for those key traces that made him or her myths in their adult life, or we’ll simply impose these traits upon them as in a reverse prophecy.

PRESS REVIEW

«Sotterraneo hasn’t run out of meaningful brainwaves of expedients, of outbursts, of that “something” that becomes poetry, of gags that become thought, of gestures that become ideas. [ ] Light-heartedness and profundity go hand in hand and intersect just like in the DNA double helix. Just like life. […] Recognition, representation, identification. Who are we, who have we become, who could we have been, these are the questions Sotterraneo forces us to ask ourselves through laughter, which is their code to scatter things».

Tommaso Chimenti, www.rumorscena.com

«Childhood, the fight to exist in this world, or in other words to understand why we exist. Tragic heroes and historic figures come alive on stage through the reinvention of their past, imaging how their childhood might have been[…]. The constant memory, the tension towards life expectations, the fragility of childhood».

«We must confess that Sotterraneo is still willing to experiment. Sara Bonaventura and Claudio Cirri interpret the text written by Daniele Villa with the usual, demure tone, fast rhythm, the direct involvement of the audience, the prompt sarcasm and the irreverent vim».

Sergio Lo Gatto, www.teatroecritica.net

«Its simplicity and excellence is in its creativity. […] A top quality piece».

Kirsty Emmerson, www.ayoungertheatre.com

«Sotterraneo stages a smartly written text and bright thoughts that make us laugh, but that most of all deeply strikes those who are there and observe the children on stage».

E BE LEGEND!

«BE LEGEND!

Renato Palazzi, Il Sole 24 Ore

Anna Bandettini, La Repubblica
